Geo Entertainment is a Pakistani drama & entertainment channel which was launched in May 2002 by Geo Television Network. Geo Television Network operates under the supervision of “Jang Group” the famous newspaper publication of Pakistan. The channel owned by Mir Khalil Ur Rehman started its regular transmission on 1st October 2002 after test transmission on 14 August 2002. The Urdu language channel has it’s headquarter based in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. As its slogan “Har Pal Geo” reflects, the channel aims to entertain its audience with refreshing and lively content. Geo drama channel broadcasts big hit dramas, long plays, sitcoms and comedy serials. One of the famous shows of the channel is ‘Barat serials’ including Dolly ki Ayegi Barat, Takay Ki Ayegi Barat, Annie Ki Ayegi Barat, and Aazar Ki Ayegi Barat. Other successful serials includes Khuda Aur Mohabbat, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Aasmano Pe Likha, Bashar-e-Momin, Adhoori Aurat, Maryam, Yeh Zindagi Hai, and Naadaniyan. Out of these, Bashar-e-Momin drama serial was highly appraised by audience. The channel once caught in a controversy, in May 2014, when it aired blasphemous content in its morning show ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’. People massively protested against the morning show across the country. PEMRA came in action and banned the channel for some time. The current drama serials on Geo Entertainment are Babul Ka Angna, Sila Aur Jannat, Sangdil, Heer, Noor Jahan, Ali Ki Ammi, Mor Mahal, Teri Meri Joori, and Tera Mera Rishta. Nadia Khan hosts morning show, started in 2006, on Geo Entertainment. Inaam Ghar was a famous game show aired on Geo, hosted by Aamir Liaquat Hussain. The ideology of channel is to leave a trademark in drama industry of Pakistan and occupy the status of top entertainment channel of country by broadcasting high entertainment dramas and other shows to provide audience with quality fun and entertainment.
